Intercultural Studies Anna and the king Course name: Intercultural Studies Teacher: Stephen Trinder  Section: 04B4CIM21 - D10 Name: Muna Khalid ID: H00248012

In this scene the Prime Minister ask Anna some personal question like how old are you when your husband died, so Anna annoying. That’s mean the prime minister is collectivism high context because he have close personal relationships, while Anna is Individualism, that’s mean they should know social live who will dell with them. UK is 89 and there are individualism, while Thailand is collectivism

In this scene is power distance index because the women she control of the her servants and constrained by chains since 6 weeks they don’t have rights because the servants wanted her freedom, So Anna feels strong sense of fairness and give the women her ring for leave the servants but the women still prison her. Anna is low but the women is high power distance. The Hofstede center (2016) In UK there have low power distance, while Thailand is high

In Siam the man don’t tell sorry for women. This response was Prince on the British boy (Louis) when he said to his mother sorry this is high context, while Louis is low context because in low context culture men and women are equal but in Siam men are assertive, ambitious and competitive. This means that they have very specific roles for men and women. Women are not allowed to participate in government or in meeting involving authorities. In UK there have low on masculinity femininity, while Thailand is high.

This scene is Individualism versus Collectivism because Anna wanted independent British home but the king want she to stay with them in palace . So the king is collectivism because strong sense of insiders and outsiders. While Anna is individualism to she want breeding her son like her father also she want freedom and privacy valued. The Hofstede center (2016)

In this scene the served bowed when they see the king than Broken pots. This is power distance high context because natural and inevitable do that even when they work. But Anna is low of context because asked the king about just one day no bowed. People who low context they think the power can be achieved through work and superiority not rigid. But high context they think centralization of power. * Likert, R.,The Human Organization New York, NY: McGraw Hill. 1967

In this scene Anna came to the king with out an appointment so they shouted and the king annoying because, the people cannot speak until they get a permission. They have strong sense of respect and honor. He is high of uncertainty avoidance index because he strict code of behavior. But Anna is low of uncertainty avoidance index because she rejected and ignore the rules. Alex Collins (2008) London
