SABER : to know information / facts CONOCER : to know people / places ; (to be acquainted or to be familiar with)
SABER = to know (information, facts) **Yo sé = I know Tú sabes = you know Él/Ella/Ud. sabe = he/she knows, you know (polite) Nosotros sabemos = we know Vosotros sabéis = you know (plural) Ellos/Ellas/Uds. saben= they know, you know (plural)
SABER + infinitive (verb) = to know HOW to do something **The verb after SABER is NOT conjugated!!**
SABER + que “To know THAT”
CONOCER = to know *be acquainted with* (person / place) **Yo conozco = I know Tú conoces = you know Él/Ella, Ud. conoce = he/she knows, you know Nosotros conocemos = we know Vosotros conocéis = y’all know Ellos/Ellas, Uds. conocen= they/y’all know
The “Personal A” In Spanish when people are the direct objects of verbs, we need to place an "a" in front of them. We refer to this "a" the Personal A since it is used when persons (human being/pet) are direct objects. *used when you are familiar with (KNOW) people/pets CONOCER + A
