Solar Energy and Nuclear Power
Nuclear Energy. How does it work? Some atoms, (like Uranium), are so big that we can break them apart by shooting tiny particles at them. This process.
Hydroelectricity By Ahmed. What is hydroelectricity? It is basically the use of water to produce electricity, it is much more kinder to the environment.
Using a dam (hydroelectric). How does it work? The theory is to build a dam on a large river that has a large drop in elevation. The dam stores large.

Presentation transcript:

Jordan Carlson, Will Flink, Macy's Walker Hydroelectricity

What is hydroelectricity? Hydroelectricity uses water to spin a turbine, which is connected to a generator, to create electricity. Hydroelectricity usually uses dams, so in order to power Duvall, Carnation, let's use the Tolt Dam.

Why hydroelectricity? Pros: Cons: Clean energy source (no pollution) Doesn't need to rely on other countries to give them fuel to power the dam. Expensive Affects fish Droughts

Hydroelectricity compared to fossil fuels Clean energy No pollution Don't need to take from other countries Not clean Pollutes atmosphere Creates greenhouse gases

Hydroelectricity compared to nuclear energy z Hydroelectricity compared to nuclear energy    Advantages of nuclear energy  It provides a lot of energy  It provides some jobs  Disadvantage of nuclear energy  It produces nuclear waist  It could have a nuclear melt down The nuclear waste cannot be disposed

Hydroelectricity compared to nuclear pt. 2 Advantages of hydroelectric energy It is it also produces a lot of energy   It does not emit harmful energy in the  atmosphere
