Located in the Gulf of St Located in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, west of Newfoundland's Burin Peninsula, Miquelon-Langlade covers a total land area of 205 square kilometres (79 sq mi).

The Isthmus of Tehuantepec (Spanish pronunciation: [tewanteˈpek]) is an isthmus in Mexico. It represents the shortest distance between the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean.

The Avalon Peninsula is a large peninsula (9,220 km²[1]) that makes up the southeast portion of the island of Newfoundland. The peninsula extends off the mainland through an isthmus.
