Presentation transcript:

Alison Ley, Deputy Headteacher Assessment from the perspective of Castle Hill School and current thinking in SEND Alison Ley, Deputy Headteacher

Where we were: P levels: English, Maths, Science, PSHE, ICT Individual Education Plans Variety of different class assessments

Why we changed: Changing landscape - pupil needs - re shaped the curriculum Assessment no longer fitted need

What we changed: P levels & target setting for Maths & English MAPP to replace IEPs Quest & Q Skills to match the curriculum

P Level Assessments Target Setting

Mapping & Assessing Personal Progress Q Skills Units

Talk the walk process: Choose a question… How do we assess our pupils to ensure that we build up a full profile of each individual? How do we communicate to others the progress that individuals are making? How do we ensure progression and what does progression look like for our pupils? How do we ensure that our pupils are challenged and stretched to ensure their maximum potential? How do we compare our progress with others, locally, regionally, nationally?

Talk the walk process continued: In triads take turns to talk about the question you have chosen Whilst each person has their turn to talk the listeners should write down what they like about what is said and a suggestion to think about.

Feedback What we liked… Suggestions to think about…

Questions to think about: What works? What needs to change? What are the common themes? How can we work collaboratively on assessment?
