Jeremiah 31:31-34 “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:”

(32) Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:”

(33) But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.”

(34) And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”

(3) The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day. (4) The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire, (5) (I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to shew you the word of the LORD: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount;)”

This Covenant? Deut.5:3 “not…with our fathers” “but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day;” These who constitute the nation at this time are the Israelite nation who had entered into the covenant with the Lord at Sinai.

Who + When? From the time the covenant was given on Mount Sinai, all generations of Israelites were amenable to the Law, so long as it was in effect. Israel was accountable to God to keep it until He made a new covenant not like this one (Jeremiah 31:31-34).

Covenant Law - Deut. 4:44 Testimonies - Deut.4:45 An agreement, contract, or pact made between two parties binding them together. Statutes & judgments - Deut. 5:1 Law - Deut. 4:44 Testimonies - Deut.4:45 Commandments - Deut.5:10

What Was The Purpose Of The Law? “It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator,” Galatians 3:19

What Was The Purpose Of The Law? “Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith,” Galatians 3:24

What Was The Purpose Of The Law? “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye1have eternal life: and they are they which testify1of me,” John 5:39 “For had ye believed Moses,0ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me,”1John 5:46

What Shall We Do With The Law? “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope,” Romans 15:4
