The National Reference Metadata Editor (NRME)

1. Login This is the login page. The user is authenticated by his circa credentials. If one of the credentials is incorrect, the application will display a warning message and the user can try again to login by typing the correct credentials.

2. Selecting a reference metadata flow After successful authentication, the user is directed to the next page where he can select a reference metadata flow. The application shows the user name and role on the top right side of the screen (1) The application shows the available reference metadata flows, depending on the role of the user (2). A national user will only be able to see the RM flows for his country and his particular domain A national administrator will see all RM flows for his country and all domains for that country A Eurostat domain manager will see all RM flows for all countries, but for his domain only The Super administrator can see all RM flows for all countries and all domains. The application displays the selected reference MF at the bottom of the screen (3) After having selected a RM flow, the user can press the Continue button on the left hand bottom corner of the page (4) If the user has not yet selected a RMFlow the user will receive an error message when pressing the Continue button After pressing the continue button, the application displays the next page of the wizard. Comments for IBM: Selected RM flow should be highlighted in blue with white font, - not gray – for readability.

3. Selecting an action The next page shows the number of files available for the RMF selected in the previous screen (1) On the left hand side of the screen there is a list of available actions (2) When the user selects one of these actions, it is highlighted in green (3) Comments for IBM: The phrase should be: « Number of files available for the metadata flow selected: 6 »

4. Creating a reference metadata file – Step 1: Select After the user has pressed the « Create a file » action, the NRME displays the first step of the wizard. (1) The domain (2), country and data provider name (3) are pre-filled, based on the information given previously by the user. National administrators will be able to see a complete list of all data providers for a country The user fills out the year and periodicity (4). At the left bottom of the screen, the user can see at all times the RMflow he is working on (5). This information will be displayed on all screens of the wizard. (6) When Year and periodicity have been filled out, the user can navigate to the next step by pressing the Next button. If the user presses the Close button, the application will return to the “Select an Action screen” (Slide 4) Comments for IBM: * Once an action is selected it should remain green throughout the rest of the action screens so the user knows where he is in the process. * No warning is given to the user when he clicks the close button. He is just “catapulted” to the “Please select an action” screen”.

5. Creating a reference metadata file – Step 2: We then come to step 2 of the wizard, where the user has to select a report structure. At the moment only one report structure is available, but it is possible to add more. Navigation buttons are foreseen, to facilitate browsing, in the event the report structure list gets longer. Since there is only one report structure, based on the ESMS (Euro-SDMX Metadata Structure), this is automatically selected. The user navigates to the next step by pressing the Next button. Comments for IBM: * Once an action is selected it should remain green throughout the rest of the action screens so the user knows where he is in the process. * No warning is given to the user when he clicks the close button. He is just “catapulted” to the “Please select an action” screen”.

6. Creating a reference metadata file – Step 3: Metadata message (a) This brings us to the third step. Here the user can complete the Metadata message Since this screen is quite large, several navigation options are available. (2) The user can browse through a tree where all the concepts are shown. (3) The tree can be expanded or collapsed entirely by clicking on the Expand all – Collapse all links or by clicking on the +/- signs in the concept tree. (4) The user can also press the previous and next icons to browse through the concepts in a sequential way. (5) When the user selects a concept in the tree, the corresponding field is shown in the right hand side of the frame. Here the user can type his text, or paste it from Word or another application. An edit button is available, allowing the user to apply formatting to the text entered in the field. For this report structure, all fields are mandatory. If all fields have not been filled out, the user can only save this Reference Metadata File as an incomplete version He will not be able to send it. Concepts where the field is still empty are shown in red. As soon asAt the moment this only occurs whenever the user saves his work, but in future this should happen instantaneously, as soon as the user has filled out a field. WHen all fields have been filled, the user can press the next button to go to step 4 The fill all button is very nifty but it is only there for development purposes…. Comments for IBM: * No warning is given to the user when he clicks the close button. He is just “catapulted” to the “Please select an action” screen”, without being prompted to save.

7. Creating a reference metadata file – Step 4: Metadata message (b) When the user selects a concept in the tree, the corresponding field is shown in the right hand side of the frame. Here the user can type his text, or paste it from Word. Text can be formatted and tables can also be inserted. (2) An edit button is available, allowing the user to apply formatting to the text entered in the field. For this report structure, all fields are mandatory. If all fields have not been filled out, the user can only save this Reference Metadata File as an incomplete version He will not be able to send it. (3) Concepts where the field is still empty are shown in red. (4) As soon as the concept field has been filled in, the label colour changes to black, so the user can see straight away which fields still need to be filled out Comments for IBM: * No warning is given to the user when he clicks the close button. He is just “catapulted” to the “Please select an action” screen”, without being prompted to save.

8. Creating a reference metadata file – Step 3: Metadata message (c) (1) When all fields have been filled, the user can press the next button to go to step 4 (2) The back button returns to the previous screen (3) The Save button saves the concepts filled in, whether the metadata message is complete or not. (4) The Close button returns the user to the “Actions” page, but not without prompting a save. (5) The fill all button is very nifty but it is only there for development purposes…. Comments for IBM:

9. Creating a reference metadata file – Step 4: Send (a) In the fourth and last step the user sees the RM file in HTML format. This is the way the table – entered in the previous step - is presented The whole message is of course too long to show in one slide. After pressing the send button, the rm File is sent to Eurostat, via EDAMIS. The file status will be set to « Sent ». Once a file has been sent it can no longer be modified. He can also preview the sdmx ml format if he wishes. This is a b Comments for IBM:

10. Creating a reference metadata file – Step 4: Send (b) Initially, the Send button will be de-activated in this screen. Before being able to send the file, the user must indicate whether the file is fit for publication or not. He does this by selection either the “for publication” radio button on top of the screen, or the “not for publication button” (2) As soon as one of these radio buttons has been selected, the Send button is activated. Comments for IBM:

11. Creating a reference metadata file – Step 4: Send (c) At the bottom of the page the user will find buttons which are identical to the ones on top of the page. (2) There is also a button which allows the user to preview the file in SDMX-ML format (3) Once a file has been sent it can no longer be modified. After pressing the send button, the file status is set to “Ready for Validation” and stored in the NRME database. An automatic notification is sent to the Eurostat Domain Manager and Unit B6, via EDAMIS. Comments for IBM:

12. Manage a reference metadata file When selecting “Manage a File”, the user gets a list of the Reference Metadata File s existing for the selected RM flow. When the user clicks on the file name, The Reference Metadata Details are shown. These can be previewed in HTML or downloaded The user can also Preview the file in SDMX-ML format Comments for IBM:

13. Manage a reference metadata file When the user clicks on a version number, all the versions that exist for that particular RMfile are shown, indicating their version nr, status, publishing status, and date of creation, as well as some icons which allow to perform certain actions on the RMFiles, depending on their status! The user can select the file he wants to work on by selecting the radio button in front of the filename. Once the user has selected the radio button, the icons allowing various actions on the file are activated, depending on the status of the file. Comments for IBM: The user can create a file and go through steps 1 to 3. When he fills out all the fields in step 3, he can save and close the file, without going to step 4. In step 4 however, we require the publish/not publish radio buttons to be selected before enabling the user to send. In this case, the user has not done this, since he only has gone to step 3. The file is shown in the Manage a File screen, as a Draft version, which can be sent be the user. This should not be possible since no publish option has been selected.

14. Manage a reference metadata file Once the user has selected the radio button, the icons allowing various actions on the file are activated Depending on the status of the file, the user can now edit, create a new version, delete, lock and send a file. Comments for IBM: Screen « Reference metadata file versions »: No lock icon for draft files (Loaded Metadataflow : SSTSIND_ORDR_MS - SSTSIND_ORDR_MS_DE_2006_0000 and SSTSIND_ORDR_MS_DE_2006_0000
