Asset management Ontario Update Presentation February 14, 2017

What’s been happening? First Leadership Retreat/Strategy Planning – Jan 12-13 Planning and prioritizing for the year… AM ONT members at Session on Service Levels - AMP Regulation Technical Group – Jan 20 Started our outreach – Durham AM Group – Jan 24 Met with CNAM Chair to discuss synergies – Feb 2 Launch of our new website and email addresses: www.amontario.ca Development of our Leadership documents (highlights to follow)

AM Ont’s value proposition Collaboration Complement existing organizations through skillful collaboration to improve the state of asset management practice in Ontario; Leadership Increasing the capacity to enhance and promote asset management across the Province; Innovation Engaging in and supporting knowledge generation, consolidation and dissemination of information and best practices in Ontario.

Vision & Mission Vision: Mission: The vision of AM ONT is to be the multi-disciplinary center of excellence and innovation for public sector asset management in the Province of Ontario. Mission: The mission of AM ONT is to be a multi-disciplinary community of practice for public infrastructure stewards to strengthen asset management capabilities and achieve defined Levels of Service through implementable practices aligning international standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices to optimize public services.

Objectives With a focus on publicly owned infrastructure, objectives of AM ONT include: Helping to establish the framework and supports for the implementation of leading asset management practices across Ontario; Proactively developing methodologies to address evolving asset management regulations; Sharing member experiences with asset accounting and asset management information systems and capabilities; Supporting an inter-disciplinary forum for sharing ideas about the management of asset reporting best practices across the finance, public works, and corporate planning functions; and Facilitating the development of tools and practices to ensure the implementation of appropriate levels of service and the monitoring of those levels. Share experiences with asset accounting and asset management information systems and capabilities. Be proactive with development of methodologies in dealing with the evolving asset management regulations, and regulators. Forum for exchange of ideas in the management of asset reporting requirements, and asset management best practices in the finance, program, and program planning worlds.

April Meeting… date to be confirmed… Host: City of Vaughan June 6/7 - First Ontario Asset Management AGM Transition of leadership Election of a new Vice-Chair Will be an exciting agenda and some surprise guest appearances Working on some training opportunities pending regulation roll-out New branding and logo – coming soon! Enhanced website and technology – coming soon! Formalized and legal entity structure – coming soon! Continued outreach to relevant organizations and other municipalities Formal membership registration

Why are we doing all of this? Demonstrating Value Promoting leading practice asset management training opportunities. Conduct workshops/webinars Strengthening the resource base; Providing mentor-mentee opportunities; Sharing knowledge and experience through networking opportunities.
