Dimension Guidelines NOTE: Students will need a highlighter Introduction to Engineering Design Unit 2 – Lesson 2.2 – Dimensions and Tolerances Dimension Guidelines Note: There are dozens of rules, do’s and don’ts, and guidelines associated with dimensioning. This purpose of this presentation is to introduce those guidelines that are most critical, and that students tend to have the most trouble with when first learning how to dimension drawings. DIMENSION GUIDELINES 20- DIMENSIONS SHOULD NOT BE LOCATED ON THE OUTSIDE BORDER AREA 21. ALL LENGTH DIMENSIONS START AT A COMMON SIDE OF THE SHAPE. THE SAME IS TRUE FOR THE HEIGHT AND WIDTH DIMENSIONS.
