Britton’s and Wilson’s BREAKING NEWSletter March 27th– March 31ST Announcements Flower Power – This ends this Friday, Mar. 31st. This is s fundraiser to raise money for playground improvements. Buy a flower for your classroom, 25 cents each. The class with the most flowers wins a party! Good Friday holiday is April 14th. We will also be out of school the Monday after Easter, April 17th. Happy Easter! Ms. Britton and Mrs. Wilson would appreciate any donations of Kleenex. Thank you in advance! Join Remind by texting @rm8squad to 81010. This is how we send out reminders/announcements. ELA: We are continuing Unit 8, which is titled Determining Important Ideas. We will make inferences, visualize, and identify the important ideas of various expository nonfiction articles. We will begin our Opinion Unit in writing. Vocabulary: Diligent: “hard-working.” When you are diligent, you work steadily or carefully on something because it is important to you. Frank: When you are frank, you say what you think, openly and honestly. Self-confident: “sure of yourself.” If you are self-confident, you are confident or sure you can do something. Headstrong: “determined to do what you want no matter what anyone says.” Overwhelmed: If you are overwhelmed by a feeling, you feel it very strongly—so strongly that you forget everything else. Contentment: “feeling of satisfaction and happiness.” People feel contentment when they are doing something they enjoy. Math: Our math skills this week will be shapes and perimeter. I can statements: I can tell time to the last minute and calculate intervals of time. I can visualize from a passage. I can ask and answer questions about a passage. I can reread for information. I can recognize a pronoun. Test Dates: Math - ISP (Short Test) on Perimeter will be on Wednesday, Mar. 29th. The Assessment on Shapes, Area, and Perimeter will be on Friday, March 31st. Please encourage your child to practice skills on mobymax.com as much as possible! Math Homework – Mon. – Review for state test, Perimeter, and Area. Tues. – Review for state test, Perimeter, and Area. ISP on Perimeter is tomorrow. Wed. – Review for state test, Perimeter, and Area. Thurs. – Review for state test, Perimeter, and Area. Go over your Study Guide for tomorrow’s Assessment. ELA Assessments: Nonfiction Writing Performance Task (This is to practice for the state writing test. Encourage your child to do their best ) on 3/28. Week 25/27 Vocabulary Quiz on 3/29 Be sure to encourage your child to read each night. They should be reading at least 20 minutes. Ask your child about what they are reading and what is happening in their book. They love to share their reading knowledge with you! ELA Homework – Homework packet is due on Thursday.
