Welcome to Year 3! Miss Ryan & Mr McGuire

Hello! Staff in Year 3 this year are: 3C 3T Miss Ryan Mr McGuire (Class Teacher) 3T Mr McGuire (Class Teacher) Miss Malloy (1:1 Support) Mrs Munnelly (PPG Support) Mrs Ahmad (Teaching Assistant) Miss Buckley (Phase Leader)

Curriculum This year we will be following a new teaching approach called Cornerstones which is a thematic teaching system. This years curriculum map is available on the class pages and outlines the topics we will be covering. Where a subject is set to ‘discrete’ there will be a weekly lesson that may not always link to the thematic approach. Each half term will have a new topic which the children have selected themselves. Each topic will start with a ‘hook’ to enthuse the children.

Curriculum Curriculum Map

‘Hook’!

Homework Homework will be sent home on a Friday and due in on a Monday. If there are any concerns, issues or queries this allows children to have time to get to their teacher to raise these at the start of the week. Homework shouldn’t take longer than an hour at the most. It will usually follow on from work done in school so children should be able to access it readily. Completed homework handed in on time will be light marked. Please read and sign the homework agreement in the front of the folder with your child. Spelling booklets will be sent home tomorrow with the spellings for the Autumn term. Please keep these at home and encourage your children to learn them for their tests.

Housekeeping P.E. is every Thursday. Children can bring their kits to school and leave them until the end of half term when they will be sent home to wash. Please send your child to school with a coat every day. Please send a water bottle in for your child to keep in school for use in class. Appropriate reading books will be issued over the coming weeks. Please limit bag size. Space is at a premium.
