Duke Institute for Health Innovation (DIHI) A brief introduction: The mission of the Duke Institute for Health Innovation (DIHIs to promote transformative innovation in health and healthcare, and to help cultivate a community of entrepreneurship across Duke University and its health enterprise.  Our annual request for innovation applications is open to all faculty, staff, students, and trainees across the Duke campus who have ideas on how we remain an innovating health system.  The Innovation Jam is a “Shark Tank” style event to which all Duke faculty, staff, and students are invited to apply and/or attend. Applicants should submit pragmatic health innovations with immediate application at Duke and/or commercial potential.  The proposed ideas can be a concept or a simple prototype, but must have a clear business and value proposition. The event will be formatted after the television show Shark Tank. Through an annual RFA process DIHI sources Innovation pilots. The innovation process is aligned with DUHS and DUH strategy and planning process. Last year (RFA 2018) the thematic areas for innovation were Population Health and Analytics Building resilience and well-being Novel patient interactions (engagement, education & experience) Team-based and new cara models Optimizing patient flow Engance transitions of care We received 75 applications from across the university and through a rigorous process Duke Health leaders selected projects for funding / piloting.
