Plate Tectonic Boundaries There are three kinds of plate tectonic boundaries: divergent, convergent, and transform plate boundaries. 

Divergent Plates move away from each other Occurs above rising convection currents Oceanic = Mid-ocean ridge Ex. Mid Atlantic Ridge

Convergent Plates move toward each other produces earthquakes, volcanic activity, mountains Ex. Himalayas

Transform  Two plates slide past one another. The fracture zone that forms a transform plate boundary is known as a transform fault. Most transform faults are found in the deep ocean basin and connect offsets in the mid-ocean ridges. Ex. San Andres Fault
