Morning Worship Wednesday 5th December Job [pronounced Jobe] – a man of patience and faith Bishop Justus Church of England School

Let the light of Christ shine in our lives Gather The Lord be with you And also with you Let the light of Christ shine in our lives

Receive He said, ‘Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return there; the Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.’ From the Book of Job, chapter 1, verse 21

Engage It is possible that Job is the oldest of any book of the Bible written approximately 2100-1800 B.C. In Job, we see a man who God allows to be directly attacked by Satan. He is an example of faithfulness as he loses everything important to him yet remains faithful to God. Its purpose is to illustrate God’s sovereignty and faithfulness during a time of great suffering.

Engage Some discussion ideas … What do you think about suffering – does God make it happen? Is it important how we respond to suffering? What are the big questions about life? Video suggestion … The Simpsons look at the book of Job https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDwYNSltlkU

Respond God, give us grace to face times of suffering with strength. Be with all who are struggling at this time, through ill-health or conflict, bring them help and comfort. Amen

Go out into the world with the light of Christ Let us bless the Lord Thanks be to God Go out into the world with the light of Christ
