Household Water Use

Water Use in the Bathroom Many old toilets use 3-7 gallons of water per flush Leaky toilets can waste 200 gallons of water each day Faucets run at about 2 gallons of water per minute

Other Water Use in the Home Traditional washing machines use 27-54 gallons of water per load Washing dishes at the sink with the faucet on can use 20 gallons

Ways to Save Water Install new toilets which use 75 percent less water. Repair leaks. Turn off the faucet while you brush your teeth and save 200 gallons of water per month. Use a high-efficiency washing machine. When washing dishes at the sink, fill the sink and turn off the faucet. Do not rinse dishes before washing in a dishwasher.
