Joining Edmodo All students must join their Edmodo group as this is the main mode of communication between students and the instructor. To create an account, go to www.edmodo.com Create a student account and key in the group code to join Edmodo group. Please make sure to use your full name and student ID as your username. All Submission Form must be turned in (submitted) via the Edmodo group. Students need to look for ‘Weekly Turn-In Post’, click the ‘Open Assignment’ button for submission of work.

Synopsis This is a 6-week language activity which needs to be done outside of the lecture hours. In this activity, students discuss how song writers create awareness of world issues through their songs. In groups of 2 to 4, students: identify and discuss songs (in English) that address world issues (war, environment, relationship, domestic violence etc.). video-record their weekly meeting of 10 to 12 minutes; each person must express his/her views.

Group Discussion Video 10 to 12 minutes long. Submitted on a weekly basis before the deadline (please refer to Timeline- Student copy). Please refer to the Timeline for details. All group members must be featured in the video. Names and Matric No. of each group member MUST be edited into the video. All group members must participate actively in the discussion.

Reminder: When recording your video, please remember to: state the discussion session, e.g. “Today, we are recording group discussion/reflection video 1” introduce yourself at the beginning of each video, state the name(s) of any group members who is/are absent speak clearly and loudly ensure there is no background noise that may affect the clarity of your voice Encourage everyone to take part actively keep to the time-frame set for each video (Videos that are too short will NOT be accepted)

Turning in Video Link(s) via Edmodo The group leader or any one of the group members should take turn to: upload the group discussion/reflection/product video onto YouTube. ensure it is not set as ‘private’ copy the video link and fill in the Submission Form turn in the form via Edmodo before the due date Only ONE submission is required from each group per week.

Assessment Must not be lower than 80% A) Attendance (100%) Must not be lower than 80% Only students who are featured in the discussion/reflection video will be graded as ‘present’. Students are not required to sign or submit any attendance forms. Students must submit their MCs or excuse letters (if any) if they fail to attend any of the group discussion sessions to avoid from being awarded a zero for attendance.
