Amity University Jharkhand Subject: Environmental Science (101) Module II Natural Resources INTRODUCTION

Natural Resource Life on this planet earth depends on a variety of goods and services provided by the nature, which are known as Natural Resources. Any stock or reserve that can be drawn from nature is a Natural Resource

Natural Resources of two Types: 1) INEXHAUSTIBLE RESOURCE 2) EXHAUSTIBLE RESOURCES (Natural resources can never be used up) Solar Energy a) Renewable Hydraulic Energy (Water, Forest etc.) Wind Energy b) Non-renewable Tidal Energy (Fossil Fuels, Minerals)

Renewable Resources They can be regenerated in a given span of time. E.g. Forests, wildlife, oxygen, biomass etc. Can be grown or made again. Never run out if we take care of them. Keeping Earth clean helps protect these resources.

Non-Renewable Resources They cannot be regenerated. E.g. Natural resources found in the ground. Only in a certain amount Once they are finished (used up) they cannot be made or grown again.

Major Natural Resources: Forest Resources Food Resources Water Resources Mineral Resources Energy Resources Land Resources
