Background In [1,2], it is agreed that we will define TBD signaling for entering WUR Mode. However, the detailed definition of WUR mode remains undefined. In this presentation, we provide our thought for the definition of WUR Mode The proposal aligns with the examples shared in [3] and the high level concept presented in [4] Intel

Consideration for Integrating WUR Mode with Current Power Management Mode We think there is no need to define new power management mode for WUR Mode This is similar to the definition of WNM Sleep Mode As a result, there is no need to define corresponding signaling for transition between new power management mode and old power management mode, which is likely to reuse the current signaling as we have discussed in [3] Proposal: Simply define that STA follows the duty cycle schedule agreed between AP and non-AP STA when STA is in the Doze state Focus on the key feature Keep most of the baseline spec about power management mode unchanged Saving tremendous time for spec writing and backward spec compatibility Intel

Consideration for Integrating WUR Mode with Current Power Save Protocols As discussed in [3], for unscheduled power save protocols like PSM, PSP, and U-APSD, WUR works naturally with these protocols by introducing WURx capability when STA is in doze state For scheduled power save protocols, like TWT or schedule for WNM sleep mode, we need additional description To enable long sleep under WUR Mode, the existing negotiated service period between AP and non-AP STA for the non-AP STA’s PCR schedule (ex. TWT, schedule for WNM sleep mode) is suspended Specifically, STA is not required to wake up during the service period if the service period is suspended The parameters of the negotiated service period for the non-AP STA’s PCR schedule is still saved by the AP and non-AP STA when the negotiated service period is suspended Intel

Conclusion We provide further details for the definition of WUR Mode Focus on the key feature of enabling WURx capability when STA is in the Doze state Suspend existing negotiated service period of PCR and still save the corresponding parameters for the service period The proposal does not exclude adding other definitions in the future Intel

Straw Poll 1 Do you support that if a non-AP STA is in WUR mode, then the non-AP STA’s WURx follows the duty cycle schedule (including WURx always on) agreed between AP and non-AP STA if the non-AP STA is in the doze state the existing negotiated service period between AP and non-AP STA for the non-AP STA’s PCR schedule (e.g. TWT, schedule for WNM Sleep Mode) is suspended STA is not required to wake up during the service period if the service period is suspended The parameters of the negotiated service period for the non-AP STA’s PCR schedule is still saved by the AP and non-AP STA when the negotiated service period is suspended Y: 18 N:0 A:11 Intel
