Forces and Newton’s 3 Laws of Motion Robert Strawn Compiled 10/16/11.
Force Force is a push or pull on an object The object is called the System Force on a system in motion causes change in velocity = acceleration Force is.
Forces Force is the cause of acceleration. It is defined as a push or a pull.
FORCES. Force is a vector quantity and is measured in newtons (1N) There are different type of forces: – weight – friction force – normal reaction force.

Chapter 4 The Laws of Motion. Forces Usually think of a force as a push or pull Usually think of a force as a push or pull Vector quantity Vector quantity.
Physics Chapter 6 Forces. Newton’s Laws of Motion 1 st Law (Law of inertia) –An object moving at constant velocity keeps moving at that velocity unless.
Forces and Newton’s Laws. Forces Forces are ________ (magnitude and direction) Contact forces result from ________ ________ Field forces act ___ __ __________.
1. What is a Force?  A force is a push or pull on an object by another object and measured in newton (N).  Forces are vectors 2 Force is a push Force.
Newton’s Laws of Motion 1. If the sum of all external forces on an object is zero, then its speed and direction will not change. Inertia 2. If a nonzero.
Force A push or pull exerted on an object..
Unit 1 B Newton's Laws of Motion. 2 Classical Mechanics Describes the relationship between the motion of objects in our everyday world and the forces.
Chapter 4 Forces and the Laws of Motion. Newton’s First Law An object at rest remains at rest, and an object in motion continues in motion with constant.
Chapter 4 Dynamics: Newton’s Laws of Motion
Motion.
Notes Force. Force is a push or pull exerted on some object. Forces cause changes in velocity. The SI unit for force is the Newton. 1 Newton = 1 kg m/s.
Chapter 3 Newton’s Laws of Motion Why things move the way the do.

Newton’s Laws AP Physics C. Basic Definitions  Inertia  property of matter that resists changes in its motion.  Mass  measurement of inertia  Force.
Dynamics!.
Basic Information: Force: A push or pull on an object Forces can cause an object to: Speed up Slow down Change direction Basically, Forces can cause an.
Forces and Motion Unit Vocabulary. Newton’s 1 st law Law states: An object at rest stays at rest. An object in motion stays in motion unless an unbalanced.
Force and Motion The only reason an object changes it velocity is because a force acts on the object. Remember a change in velocity can be either a change.
REVISION NEWTON’S LAW. Quantity with magnitude and direction. e.g. displacement, velocity, acceleration, force and weight.. VECTOR Quantity having only.
Motion & Forces Vocabulary
Forces and Newton’s Laws of Motion. A force is a push or a pull. Arrows are used to represent forces. The length of the arrow is proportional to the magnitude.
Inertia! Kinematics- Study of motion of objects –How objects move Dynamics- Study of motion of objects WITH FORCES –Why objects move Mass- Amount of Matter.
Forces and Laws of Motion Force Force is the cause of an acceleration, or the change in an objects motion. This means that force can make an object to.
Forces and the laws of motion. Force A bat strikes the ball with a force that causes the ball to stop and then move in the opposite direction.
Chapter 3 Forces & Motion. Newton’s 1 st Law of Motion An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. An object in motion.

Interactive Flashcards: How to Customize the Flashcards If you want to change the text on both sides of the cards: Change the text on the blue cards by clicking on each card, deleting what’s there, and inserting the new text Select all the blue cards by holding CTRL and clicking on each one Right click and then select “send to back” and “send to back” again (the yellow cards should be in the front now) Change the text in the yellow cards by clicking on each one, deleting the text there, and inserting the new text Repeat the process of sending the yellow cards to the back (select them all and right click and send to back) If you want to change the color of the cards: Select the blue cards (use process above) Go to the Format tab and then Shape Fill and choose a different color, gradient, or picture fill Use the process above to send the top cards to the back, then use the same method to change the color of the back cards Send the back cards to the back again so you are left with the original cards in the front
