Memoirs Grade 6 Language Arts

What is a Memoir? It is a text form that captures a defining personal moment. It begins with a purposeful lead, identifies the personal event and may give the reason for selecting the topic. It is in logical order (single day or a flashback) Details describing your feelings, actions and/or can use quotes Conclusion: communicate the larger meaning or reason for writing about this event.

How do I write a memoir? Brainstorm important events/situations that have occurred in your life? Why were they important? What did you learn from it? What is the story to tell? The best birthday present I ever received was? The best day of my life… The scariest day of my life… When I realized I had a talent for… The person who has had the biggest influence on me is...
