Inside the CRO Graphic from Kerboodle The electrons are deflected by the electric fields between the Y-plates. The electrons are then deflected by the magnetic field between the X–plates. The electron beam has very low mass, so the instrument can respond very rapidly. You are NOT expected to know this for the exam.
