Starter When is it ok to be on your cell phone? When is it ok to ask to use the restroom? Where can you find assignments that are already graded? Where can you find papers that do not have a name on them? Where do you turn in your assignments? What is the class fee for this class? If you are unable to answer the questions to any of these listed above than ask someone next to you. Lastly once done if you still have time you should be drawing in the space to the right on your starter.

Printmaking term 2

Agenda Talk about what we did last time Talk about our next project. Go to the library to find an image we can use to create for our positive and negative space relief print. Block the images that we found at the library.

Last Time We learned about positive and negative space. We worked to finish our stencils and began our next project.

Why Are We Learning This? We will break down images into basic shapes to make it easier to draw. What are basic shapes?

Blocking In A drawing technique that breaks down an image into large, medium, and small basic shapes. How can blocking an image be helpful? How is blocking used in modern art? Video Games, self portraits, digital animation

What shapes do you see? Show me.

What shapes do you see now What shapes do you see now? Can you tell that these are the same pictures?

Blocking In Basic Shapes When you block in any drawing, use the following basic shapes: This does not mean this is what your picture is going to look like.

Blocking In Basic Shapes When using these three basic shapes you can warp them to match what you see: What does warp mean?

What shapes do you see in this face? Show me.

Now that we have the large shapes drawn, next we add the medium shapes Now that we have the large shapes drawn, next we add the medium shapes. Then add the small shapes. Last you can add the color, texture, shading, or tiny details.

The Assignment Choose 1 of the images you wish to block.

The Assignment You will outline on your image First the large shapes You will be drawing on the photo of the face.

The Assignment Then the medium shapes Show me where the new shapes are.

The Assignment Lastly the smallest shapes

The Assignment On a plain piece of paper You will have to enlarge your shapes in order to fit the page DO NOT TRACE YOUR IMAGE Start with transferring the large shapes, then the medium shapes, and last the small shapes Now if you have time add small details

Library etiquette How do we act in the library? If you have a question we raise our hand. We only have 15 min. to finish this assignment and when time is called if you are done or not we will be leaving back to the classroom

Studio time Step 1: Cut out your stencil if you have not already. Step 2: Spray paint each layer outside in the cardboard boxes. Note: Do not spray paint on anything but your paper or you will be doing graffiti removal. Once done with 3 great prints you will label and turn in. Once done with that you will begin work on the two worksheets that will be due next time. If you are unable to finish the worksheets today they will be homework.
