Ms. Alderson’s Superheroes Science/Social Studies 2nd Grade 770-578-7200 Kawanna.Alderson@cobbk12.org Ms. Alderson’s Superheroes Week of October 16, 2017 WEEKLY HOMEWORK A Peek at Our Week Reading: Ask and Answer Questions We will read informational books to identify key details by asking and answering questions about the text. Writing Write a thank you letter to our troops on the paper provided (family members are welcome to write a letter as well. Math Go to the Funny Numbers Link (“fun links” on class webpage) Go to the Place Value Practice (Try the Challenge Yourself activity) Math: Place Value We will review how to read and write 3-digit numbers to 1,000. We will also count within 1,000 and skip count by 5’s, 10’s, and 100’s. Spelling No homework Writing: Informational Writing We will continue our unit on informational writing. We will learn how to introduce a topic and use facts to develop points about our topic. Reading Read 20 minutes every day Ask and answer questions using an informational text. No homework Science/SS/Health: Economics We will finish up the economics unit and begin learning about the contributions of Sequoyah, James Oglethorpe, Mary Musgrove, and Tomochichi. We will review the spelling of the vowel teams ai, ay, oa, and ow. We will review rules for capitalization and punctuation in our writing.
