Self-Esteem

Does anybody have any idea what ‘self-esteem’ is? What is Self-Esteem? Does anybody have any idea what ‘self-esteem’ is?

What we THINK of ourselves. What is Self-Esteem? Self-esteem is a set of perceptions, thoughts, evaluations, feelings and behavioral tendencies directed towards ourselves. It’s EVALUATION PERCEPTION              FROM OURSELVES... OR…. What we THINK of ourselves. Psychologist Robert B. Burns considers that self-esteem is the set of the attitudes of the individual towards itself

Self-Esteem? Nothing in our way of thinking, feeling, deciding and acting escapes the influence of self-esteem.

Self acceptance This is the capacity that the human being has to accept itself as it really is, in the physical, psychological and social sense. Accept how you conduct yourself.

Self-evaluation This reflects the ability to evaluate and value things that are good for oneself, those that satisfy and are enriching, make you feel good, allow you to grow and learn. It is looking for and valuing everything that makes you feel proud of yourself.

Self-Respect Express and manage feelings and emotions conveniently, without hurting yourself or blaming yourself. Respect for oneself is the feeling of being considered worthy of happiness, it is treating yourself in the best way possible, not allowing others to treat you badly. It’s the real conviction that the desires and needs of each are natural rights, which will allow them to respect others with their own individualities.

Self-Improvement When the person is is aware of the changes, creates their own scale of values, developing and strengthening their abilities and potentialities, accepting and respecting themself. They are constantly improving and will therefore have a good level of self-esteem, generating the capacity to think and understand, choose, make decisions and solve matters of everyday life, school, etc.

Enemies of Self-Esteem Laziness ! We do not challenge our ‘inertia’. We do not choose to be awake. We do not wish to experience discomfort. The greatest problem is that it becomes a vicious cycle and our laziness or inaction damages our self esteem and we tend to become more lazy.

Now – Let’s watch this animation called ‘The Triplets’ Now – Let’s watch this animation called ‘The Triplets’. Watch carefully and save your thoughts as we will be discussing it straight afterwards.

‘Grades’ of Self-esteem Having a high self-esteem is equivalent to feeling confident, fit for life, or, using the terms of the initial definition, feeling capable and valuable and feel accepted as a person.
