GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS How many credits do you need?? 4 English 4 Math 4 Science 3 Social Studies (4 for MD Subject Area) 2 Foreign Language 1 Fine Art 1 Physical Education 7 Electives TOTAL = 26 Look at transcript to determine how many they still need. Have students volunteer answers for this. Have them look for their GPA, Class Rank and Quartile in lower left corner. 5 credits to be a Sophomore 11 credits to be a Junior 18 credits to be a Senior

THE TRUTH ABOUT TESTS Students who entered 9th grade in 2011 or after must pass 5 STAAR end-of-course (EOC) exams in: English 1 English 2 Biology Algebra US History (11th grade) Minimum is not passing. If you meet the Minimum score, but do not meet Level II Satisfactory, you will be required to take the test over.

How can I be sure to graduate on time? Know your credits and STAAR (EOC) scores! Pass all classes. Attend class 90% of the time OR MORE! Come to tutoring and intersession. Work to get the highest score on the EOC possible. Use your Short Cycle Assessment data to help you know how you are doing and what you still need to learn.

DUAL CREDIT ACC Kickoff meeting- January 26 BHS Café @ 6:30pm Take the TSI on February 23 – Reading and Writing. Sign up today or by Feb 1 in the Counseling Office You are able to take 2 ACC classes each semester = 8 college classes for FREE. (Flat rate fees start Fall ‘17.) Summer of 2016 – Strategies for College Success and Intro to Visual Arts Fall of 2016 – Comp 1 and US History 1 Spring of 2016 – Comp 2 and US History 2 Summer of 2017 – TBD Choose ACC dual credit when you are entering your courses for 2016-2017.

WHAT are colleges looking for? GPA/Grades/Rank Junior year is the last year shown on your transcript for college admissions and some scholarship deadlines! Courses Test Scores Essays Letters of Recommendation Extracurricular activities (should illustrate leadership/dedication/service) Start your resume`

Will need a request form from her and $2.00 If you have attendance hours you need to make up, see Mrs. Malina (AP office). If you’re struggling in class, attend tutorials or set up additional time with your teacher. Your GPA and Class Rank are found on the bottom of your transcript and are updated each semester.
