Presentation transcript:

A Neighbourhood plan for aldbourne What is it?

It gives our community a say on the type of development that takes place in the parish It's put together by the community for the community It will be approved by a referendum for local people arranged by Wiltshire Council It will have the same legal status as the Wiltshire Core Strategy for planning It will provide for a balanced and sustainable approach to development

What can it do? Shape and direct future development for the next 10-15 years Help to determine what type of development should take place and identify infrastructure needs Influence housing, local jobs, transport, open spaces, community and facilities and the vitality of our parish and its environment Propose more development than in the Wiltshire Core Strategy Identify the most suitable sites for development

What can't it do? Be prepared without input or support from the local community Prevent any development from ever taking place Propose less growth than in the Wiltshire Core Strategy Be in conflict with local, national or EU policies (or those adopted into U.K. law post 2019)

Some facts The Population of Aldbourne is 1833 (2011 Census) There are 738 households in Aldbourne (2011 Census) Aldbourne is defined as a larger village (Wiltshire Council) The UK population continues to age ( ONS) and the Aldbourne population is older than the national average with almost 30% of the population over the age of 60 (2011 Census) 144 people over the age of 50 are living alone (2011 Census)
