Why School Should Be Shortened

Current Situation School is approximately 185 days 10 Months 21 Holiday days (2 week Christmas, 1 week March) 6 PA Days 2 months of Summative and Exams 2 Month Break some 1 All schools are either day 1-5 or semester

Proposed Situation 150 Days Start September 2nd End May 30th 42 Days of Break Exams are 2 weeks before end Only Have days 1-5 No switch of schedule after the break Haven given prep for summative during March Breaks

Pros of School Short Longer time for families to be together School will be evenly spread apart course wise Less stress during courses, summative and exams

Cons of School Short Forget what was taught before the break To stressful during exam weeks Not enough time to finish all units Students wont care as much during the first few months

Conclusion Shorter school means less learned but more time to spend with friends and family Not as many worries for teacher to rush through every unit Students have a longer time to be relaxed and not have to worry about school
