Objectives You are to fully understand how a grassland and a forest ecosystem functions, including terrestrial, atmospheric and human factors influence on their distribution, structure and functioning. You are to evaluate your presentation and research skills.

The task You are to conduct research in pairs on how a grassland and a forest ecosystem functions, including terrestrial, atmospheric and human factors influence on their distribution, structure and functioning. A case study for each and the threats to those ecosystems must be included. Key words and concepts to include are: Biomass Succession (including Pioneers, plant adaptations, competition etc. Cycles (Nitrogen, Carbon, Nutrients) Food webs and trophic levels Climate Soils (pedogenic factors) NPP Threats to the ecosystem (secondary succession influences. Your findings will be presented to the rest of the class in Friday’s lesson and you will be assessed using the criteria on the sheets.
