Self Directed Search SDS

What is the SDS? It may help you explore what occupation to follow If you already have your mind made up it may support your idea or suggest other possibilities If you are uncertain it may help you to locate a small group of occupations for further consideration

Continue on your own… Go through the sheets provided and read the directions carefully Complete your Summary Code at the end Please note: When searching for careers, you can rearrange the letters to look in different groupings. For example: My code is: SEI, but I can also look in groups of IES, ESI, EIS, etc. This code should be similar to the code you received at the party!

What your summary code means… It is a simple way of organizing information about people and jobs Matches your interests, self-estimates, and competencies with those of what many occupations demand Your code locates suitable groups of occupations for you to consider

Your Career Matches: Go to website http://www.onetonline.org/ Under Advanced Search – click on Interests in the drop down menu Click on your first letter type Fill in the other two Explore your career matches

Occupational Daydreams Go back to your daydreams – search each on the Onet website and discover the code that matches it. Are they within your codes or similar letters? If you can see no relation between your SDS code and your aspiration, you should examine your potential job satisfaction

Remember… You are going to seek more information on your careers of interest before you ever make choices No one but you can make your career decision!
