Definitions Goals Objectives/Outcomes Goals: Broad educational goals adhering to national standards, general educational aim of your lesson, broad BIG- answers why? Objectives/Outcomes: Synonyms A statement of the desired outcomes of an educational activity, naming what learners can be expected to do as a result of the activity. Specific in nature. SMALL- measurable, attainable BOTH are written with the end in mind (UbD)

Definition A brief activity or event at the beginning of the lesson that effectively engages students’ attention and focuses their thoughts on the learning objectives.

Anticipatory Sets… Create an organizing framework for new ideas. Helps students understand abstract ideas through analogy and personal connection. Acts as a bridge from prior knowledge. Provide continuity from previous lessons.
