The Mnozil Brass Andrew Hacker

About the Ensemble The Mnozil Brass is a european brass septet chamber group that is a lot like other groups like Canadian Brass The group is based out of Austria and does most of their performances in Europe and in America This group consists of 3 trumpets, 3 trombone players, and a tuba. The group was formed in 1992 and has been performing together since. The group actually got their name from one of their favorite bars that many students from the Vienna Conservatory frequented.

Types of Performances and Style The Mnozil Brass is well known for connecting various genres into one performance. A lot of times they play jazz, classic German chamber pieces, original compositions, and even some vocal pieces. Like the Canadian Brass, this group likes to include comedy into their performances by creating incredible comedy routines that rival those of Monty Python and others. And this is all done while still performing at a professional level.

Some Well Known Recordings As of right now, the brass ensemble has several albums of their various concert routines. Most recently, the group has released an album called YES! This is a compilation of the music from their newest touring show.

Video This is one of my all time favorite bit from their performances. This has one of the trombone players moving the slides and pressing the valves for 2 trombones and 2 trumpets while the performers are playing.
