1 Samuel 3: Calling of Samuel John 1: Calling of the Disciples

1. It is God Who calls

“Then Eli perceived that the Lord was calling the boy.” 1 Sam 3:8 “How do you know me?” Nathaniel asked in John 1:48

“...even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.” Ephe 4:11   For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. Romans 11:29

2. To be with Him And he appointed twelve (whom he also named apostles) so that they might be with him and he might send them out to preach and have authority to cast out demons - Mark 3:14-15

I am the vine; you are the branches  I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5  

“Follow me and I will make you disciples of men…” Matthew 4:19
