Sharon Barnett I graduated from College of Charleston with a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education. I got my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in reading. This is my 13th year teaching and 1st year at LHPS! I enjoy boating, running, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. I will be getting married October 19th to my fiancé, Thomas!

Practice Spelling Words Spend time with your family Read Every Night Practice Spelling Words Spend time with your family Other homework will come home as needed.

Writing Workshop Writing Mini-Lessons are based on writing skills for the week. Students write independently on a topic of their choice. Ms. Barnett meets with small groups of students to help edit/revise writing.

ReadingWorkshop Students are working in Guided Reading groups based on their reading level. Students complete a personalized learning schedule I meet with Guided Reading Groups to work on literacy skills for the week based on their reading level/skills.

Guided Math 10 minute mini-lesson on the skill Students have math centers (must do’s/may do’s). Ms. Barnett works with small groups during math centers.

Science and Social Studies We alternate between Science and Social Studies throughout the year. Standards are taught during Unit Study. I also integrate science and social studies literature into our reading curriculum.

Spelling Every student is working on the same spelling skill. There are between 2 and 5 different spelling lists each week. Students take their spelling assessment on the Spelling City app. Each student has their own account on Spelling City. Students can log on to Spelling City from home to practice their words during the week.

Please make sure you have a car rider tag if you plan on ever picking up your child in the car rider line. Please make any changes in transportation in writing. These can be put in your child’s folder. Please keep email changes for emergencies only. I am not always able to check email throughout the day. Students cannot be signed out early after 2:00 PM
