LIVERPOOL Fourth Largest City in UK Population – 435,500 It’s along the East Side of the Estuary of River Mersey it was founded in 1207 as a borough and 1880 it was granted status as a city In the 17th Century there were progresses in trade and population growth. Battles about the town were done during the English Civil War. Manchester and Liverpool were the first cities to have an intercity railway line.

Reasons for Rebranding To show Liverpool is a premier European City Tourism Reputation Community Culture

What did Liverpool have to offer? How cities are selected?                                                                          How cities are selected? They must have cultural events already and must involve the participation of the local people.
