Choosing an item and arguing why it is good. This is called ‘promoting’.

Old saying: “God is in the detail”. Our first question being: The next four classes are going to be a mix of creation and questioning. Our first question being: ‘How do I examine an ad?’

“This is an advertisement for....” is always my beginning. Note these lines down. “This is an advertisement for....” is always my beginning. When introducing the product, there is no such thing as too much detail: “... a truck called the GMC Canyon, worth $15,498. (Never just ‘a truck’) Then say what you see, STARTING with what “dominates the image”?

Your product List what is in this ad, in order of size. Heading: Underwear, Gum Trucks Slogan: All things that are better new Image: The Black Truck Name: GMC Canyon Price: 15,498 Written details Heading and slogan You can talk about EVERY detail of the advert. Do not forget to mention the target audience as well before you end. (Perhaps your advert, that you will create, will use this structure as well). Your product Name and price Details

I want you to start considering the structure of an advert you would create. Heading Details Name Your product slogan Price

I want you to start considering the structure of an advert you would create. Heading Name Details Your product slogan Price

This is everything you need to answer to create an advert. Name Name – what is your product called? Product – draw it, cut it out, print it? Your product Heading – What words are there? Heading Slogan – speak to the audience Slogan Price and any details Price Details

Homework Come up with ideas for each of those questions. At the end of the next class, I shall hand out a sheet with those questions. You shall use that sheet to plan your colourful advert
