10 QUESTIONS THAT YOU CAN EXPECT IN AN INTERVIEW Here are some questions that employers often ask. Do you have the answers? What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses? What are your professional goals? What is the most important thing you could contribute to this company? How would you describe yourself in one word? How are your organizational abilities? What was the best job you ever had and why? What responsibilities do you most enjoy? What are your long-term career objectives? Is there a question I haven’t asked you that I should?    PS … Don’t be surprised if similar questions are asked during an interview for acceptance to a post-secondary institution!

Due at the end of class today Today we will be watching several sections of online videos about interviews. After each section, you will write what you learned about interviews. At the end of class today, you should have a paper with seven paragraphs – each should summarize what you learned in a particular video.

Interviewing is not just answering questions; it’s really “telling your story” – what is it that you want to communicate? http://daniels.du.interviewstream.com/ Watch Part I

How to Create Your Story – NEON! Create your own movie trailer. . . What is networking? What is shadowing? (no, it’s not the same as stalking . . .) http://daniels.du.interviewstream.com/ Part II

Get energized! A job can either energize or drain you - Find your passion! Watch Part 3

Never Apologize!! (in an interview . . .) Why would you ever feel like you need to apologize?? http://daniels.du.interviewstream.com/ Part 4

Don’t shoot yourself in the foot . . What does the word “research” have to do with interviewing? What is “PR”? How and why would a company research you? http://daniels.du.interviewstream.com/ Part 5

The End of the Interview – your last chance!! What is important about the end of the interview? What do you need to know before you leave the interview? What are some things you should do after the interview? If you don’t get the job, was the interview a waste of time? http://daniels.du.interviewstream.com/ Part 7

The Conclusion Five key ingredients http://daniels.du.interviewstream.com/ Part 8
