Watts 1992 – Rodney King The Los Angeles Riots of 1992 are also known as the Rodney King uprising or the Rodney King riots. Triggered by jury acquittal of 4 police officers accused in (videotaped) beating of black motorist Rodney King. Thousands rioted over six days following the verdict. Widespread looting, assault, arson & murder Property damage totalled US$1 billion.
