Board of Trade Part of British government Located in London Supposedly responsible for most aspects of colonial administration However, really just advised the government on policy Authority was divided between numerous offices and agencies Somewhat ignored colonies

Salutary Neglect Salutary—healthy or something that is good Neglect—to ignore or leave out Parliament neglected or overlooked most trade regulations as long as the colonies remained loyal. As long as the colonies kept sending raw materials to England and buying British goods.

Types of Colonies Proprietary Colony—owned by a small group of people. The proprietors appointed the governor. Corporate Colony—owned by a company with many investors. The company appointed the governor. Royal—owned by the king. The king appointed the governor
