Videos included in the set: Disability, Diversity & Inclusion Legislation & Disability Rights Tech for Reading Tech for Writing Tech in the Classroom Inclusive Web Inclusive Video Inclusion, Diversity & Disability  This video portrays disability as a facet of diversity, and accessibility as an essential component of inclusion. It demonstrates the variety of learning preferences and technologies used by students. Because diversity is essential to the well-being of the community, we must create physical and virtual environments that welcome everyone, including those with disabilities who use a variety of technologies.  Legislation & Disability Rights  This discusses the laws that apply to electronic accessibility. It highlights not only the legal obligation to create inclusive electronic content, but also the social justice need. Building in access rather than retrofitting is a lesson that we need to learn from accessibility in the physical realm.  Tech for Reading  Students share stories of inclusion and exclusion when attempting to access their reading materials, including PDF and Word documents. The stories demonstrate benefits of inclusive documents for all students (listen to audio while commuting or exercising, ability to engage with readings, search documents, etc.). Viewers also learn about benefits to themselves of modifying their workflow.   Tech for Writing  Students explain challenges they face with writing and the variety of tools that are helpful to support they participation in this task. Including tools such as voice recognition, mind mapping, word prediction, text to speech for editing, and more)  Tech in the Classroom  Students share their struggles to engage in the classroom. For example, they describe the issues they encounter taking notes and the technologies that help them be independent and successful.  A professor shares her experience creating a classroom environment that allows for a variety of tools and technologies to be used by students in the classroom. Faculty are encouraged to consider providing PPTs to all students and allowing a variety of technology be used in the classroom to avoid singling out students with accommodations.   Inclusive Web   Students share stories of inclusion and exclusion when attempting to access websites. The stories demonstrate a variety of technology that is used to navigate the web, including screen readers, speech recognition, and magnification. The video highlights use of forms, headings, alt text, and color.   Inclusive Video   Students share stories of how videos can be a great tool when they are inclusive, but create strong barriers when they are not. The video highlights benefits of captioning and audio description for students both with and without disabilities.
