Description of Formative Performance Task: You will review and discuss the following question by viewing a Prezi: How might the availability or scarcity of different resources affect cultural development? Featured Source: Prezi Featured Tech Tools: Promethean Board Laptop or desktop computer with Internet access Steps: As a class, we will watch the Prezi on the Promethean Board. Then we will review as a whole class about the types of resources needed for survival. We will review surplus as a whole class We will review scarcity as a whole class. Then you will discuss with your shoulder partner how a surplus of resources and a scarcity of resources affect development. Description of Summative Performance Task: You will discuss and collaborate using a Nearpod lesson about How might the availability or scarcity of different resources affect cultural development? Featured Source: Nearpod App Featured Tech Tools: iPads with Internet access Steps: You need to get an iPad and open the Nearpod app. Type in the code SVMEL when prompted. Follow along the Nearpod lesson and answer questions when prompted. You will participate in the last activity. It is a collaboration writing task. After you complete your writing task, you MUST like your favorite response from another student. Discuss as a class which response is the best. REDEFINITION 6th Grade Unit 1 Summative Performance Task 4 REDEFINITION Topic Question: How might the availability or scarcity of different resources affect cultural development? Description of Summative Performance Task: You will create a News Report Video as a group about the topic question: How might the availability or scarcity of different resources affect cultural development? Featured Source: Clips app Featured Tech Tools: iPads with Internet access Steps: You will be separated into groups of 4 by random draw. Using the iPad, open the CLIPS app to create a group video. Each group must create a News Report detailing what might happen to cultural development if you have a surplus of resources and if you have a scarcity of resources. You MUST explain which resources are necessary for cultural development and why they are necessary. Each group member MUST speak in the video and be an active participant. At the end of class, each group will share their video with the whole class. After all videos have been shared, each group will need to view videos created by a different class and provide feedback to the other students’ videos.
