Game City In this project you will learn the basics of visual programming to start creating your own games. The tool you will be using to do this is Microsoft Kodu – A 3D games designing software. All through this project you will develop your understanding of what makes a good game and what are the basic constructs of every game you play.

Game City. Objectives Know: More about GRASP.   Understand: The different types of assets you can implement in a game and what effect they can have on it. Be able to: Create a game that has a minimum of 5 assets which each has a specific purpose.

Game City. Assets Watch the Game video on the Intranet Task 3 / Part 3 How many assets can you recognise in the game being shown? What purpose do you thing they have?

Game City. Assets Assets are all of the things in the game. They are the landscape, the trees, the buildings, the sky, the powerups, the weapons, and everything else that you can actually see in the game. The design of the Assets gives the game atmosphere and personality. Think about what makes the worlds of Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog. They’re both platformers and the general plots are both very similar (the player must get to the end of the level to win), but they take place in very different worlds. This is largely due to the Assets. As you are designing your games, think about the kind of game you are making and what kinds of Assets would best represent that world.

Game City. Task Create a game with a minimum of 5 Assets in it. Each of these assets must have a specific purpose. Document this game in the Game Workbook.
