The Lost Battalion 77th “Liberty” Division from New York; part of the 108th infantry led by Major Charles Whittlesey & Captain George McMurty (From Pittsburgh!) only group to reach Chalevaux Mill, France (French were suppose to be on the left & other Americans on the right) so were surrounded by Germans less than 200 of 700 men made it out alive https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyJwtC8kwJM (start 22:36; end 57:06)
