30-50- SSM www.earlybirdyeducation.com Position Size: Shape: Are beginning to follow a simple command and can understand some forms of position e.g. up and down. They begin to use such vocabulary in their play and respond when others use it. Can talk about size in every day situations and is beginning to compare some sizes together e.g. big and small. They recognise that size is all around us and can spot size in their play. 30-50- SSM Shows an interest in shape and space by playing with shapes or making arrangements with objects. • Shows awareness of similarities of shapes in the environment. • Uses positional language. • Shows interest in shape by sustained construction activity or by talking about shapes or arrangements. • Shows interest in shapes in the environment. • Uses shapes appropriately for tasks. • Beginning to talk about the shapes of everyday objects, e.g. ‘round’ and ‘tall’. Shape: Is beginning to recognise shapes and patterns in the environment and can identify some 2D shapes. They use shapes in their independent play and recognise when they have used them.
