JOINING UP DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN KSF PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO/CPD FS NHS Timeline – Commissioned in 2004 by CNO and AHP Officer (Paul Martin and Jacqui Lunday) Consultation process and site designed 2005 Rolled out Jan 2006 For NQP - Provides structure for bringing 3 process into 1 portfolio NMC (2008) You must keep your knowledge and skills up to date throughout your working life You must take part in appropriate learning and practice activities that maintain and develop your competence and performance Drivers – Agenda for Change (KSF) Recruitment and retention Governance Agenda Vehicle to make expectations and processes easy FLYING START NHS

Each has clear aims and learning outcomes 10 Learning Units Each has clear aims and learning outcomes Each sub section contains learning activities All linked to NHS KSF NQP- Here’s the programme it and comprises of 10 LUs. Each unit has a grey drop down menu containing the sub units Learning Activities within each unit. Over 200 hour of Learning Activ Activities Legend Concluding Activities Over 200 hour of Learning Activities within the programme. NQPs don’t do every learning activity within the programme. The programme is broad, multi-professional and designed to meet the needs of Community, Mental Health and Acute services. Mentors- Own area within site with resources tailored to mentoring/coaching/CPD Highlight that mentors register in this box

Building a Flying Start NHS Portfolio Flying Start NHS Learning Unit Aims and Learning Outcomes Benchmarked Development Programme Flying Start NHS Learning Activities Flying Start NHS Learning Unit Aims and Learning Outcomes are the overarching outcomes for the first year in practice Benchmarking local programmes identifies where their competency programme and Flying Start NHS cover common ground This identifies where their local programme starts, stops and Flying Start NHS takes over and adds value The NQP evidences their aims and learning outcomes via the concluding activity in Flying Start NHS drawing on their evidence from their local programme and the other Flying Start NHS learning activities they have undertaken in that unit From experience most local programmes fit into Communication, Clinical Skills, Teamwork, Safe Practice and Reflective Flying Start NHS Learning Units Overall notional effort is 100 hours over 52 weeks. Local programmes will meet a significant portion of this time (@50-60%) Flying Start NHS Concluding Activities
