Figure 1 Dynamic range of commercially available quantitative HBV DNA assays.23 A variety of sensitive nucleic acid tests now are available to detect and quantify HBV DNA. The assays are available commercially and have been standardized to the WHO international reference standard.22 These assays include an improved chemiluminescent signal amplification assay and assays exploiting the greater dynamic range intrinsic to kinetic or real-time PCR.
