Hernando’s Lifespan 1496-97? Hernando’s birthplace was Badajox and Barcorrotta, Spain. May 21, 1542 Hernando died on the banks of the Mississippi River in Arkansas or Louisiana.

Hernando’s Voyages Hernando sailed the Atlantic Ocean and was the first European to explore Florida and the southeastern U.S. He sailed from Puerto Rico. He made 3 voyages.

Facts About Hernando’s Voyage He was the first to bring livestock on his expedition. He wanted to claim land for himself and Spain. He was also searching for Gold and a way to China.

Results Of The Voyage He became a member of the Explorer Hall of Fame. He reached Florida and traveled Northwest to explore.

Random facts about Hernando As a teenager, de Soto trained with Spanish captains in Latin America, where he learned the arts of war. By 1519 or so he had a reputation as a fierce fighter and expert horseman.
