AIEF receives 501(c)(3) status AIEF is incorporated ARMA International creates an education and scholarship Fund 1973 1997 2015 ARMA decides to change the FUND to a FOUNDATION AIEF becomes an independent, self-operated organization 1973 – ARMA International created education and scholarship fund. Sole purpose was to grant scholarships for individuals enrolled in full-time education in the field of RIM. Mid-1990s – ARMA BOD realized the Fund did not meet the needs of the practitioners or the field of RIM. 1996 – ARMA decided to create the Foundation. 1997 – Foundation was incorporated. 1998 – the Foundation received 501(c)(3) tax exempt status. 2015 – the Foundation became an independent, self-operated organization, i.e., no longer under ARMA umbrella, and no longer have the privilege of administrative and operational support. Thank ARMA for their support in the past years.

Applications are now being accepted. The goal is, - to enable RIM practitioners to advance to positions of greater responsibility that require college degrees, and - to advance their leadership skills for roles in the field of information management. Brett Wise currently serves as the Director of Records and Information Management (RIM) at the American Board of Pediatrics. He is enrolled in the Harvard University Extension School, working on a Masters in Liberal Arts with a focus on Information Management Systems. James Carpenter is a Records Assistant at the law firm of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP. He is enrolled in the Masters in Archives and Records Management Program at San Jose State University.

This year, the Foundation will issue six (6) grants.
