FOR THE LOVE OF GOD Exodus 20:1-3 Pew Bible p. 73-74

Truth You Took with You Last Week If we love God and love our neighbors as we should, we will do what is right and avoid sin.

Today’s Truth to Take with You We do what is right when we love God above all else. When we fail to love God above all else we do wrong, and sin.

Matthew 22:37 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

“Shema”—Deuteronomy 6:4-5 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

Exodus 20:3 You shall have no other gods before me. Do not have other gods besides me. (CSB)

Right or Wrong? We do what is RIGHT when we love or worship God (YHWH, the one, true God revealed to us in the Bible), and Him alone. We do what is WRONG when we love or worship as God anyone or anything else.

The Father and Son Are One Jesus: I and the Father are one. John 10:30 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being… Hebrews 1:3

Matthew 10:34-37 Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

Matthew 10:34-37 For I have come to turn “a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law— a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.”

Matthew 10:34-37 Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

Right or Wrong? We do what is RIGHT when we love or are loyal to God above even our closest human relations. We do what is WRONG when we love or are loyal to any other person more than we love or are loyal to Jesus.

Matthew 10:16-17, 21-22, 38-39 Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves… But beware of men, for they will hand you over to the courts and scourge you in their synagogues…

Matthew 10:16-17, 21-22, 38-39 Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. You will be hated by all because of My name…

Matthew 10:16-17, 21-22, 38-39 …he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it.

Right or Wrong? We do what is RIGHT when we endure suffering and death for Jesus’ sake. We do what is WRONG when we deny or disavow Christ in order to avoid suffering or to save our lives.

Truth to Take with You We do what is right when we love God above all else. When we fail to love God above all else we do wrong, and sin.

Be loyal to Jesus above all. Challenge Be loyal to Jesus above all.
