Storm Thorgerson By Simon Dendere

Storm Thorgerson (1994-2013), an English graphic design Storm Thorgerson (1994-2013), an English graphic design. He was best know for his work with rock artist such as Pink Floyd, Biffy Clyro and many more. The graphic designer, produced famous album artwork which have had cultural impact and now go down in history as classic. The marvels which Thorgerson all began with a specific six segment planning process. Researching further into depth and applying this process into the production of our Digipak, is bound to produce great results for us. Pink Floyd – The Dark Side of the Moon cover. Muse – Absolution cover. Ethnix – Thirteen (2001)

The Brief : Thorgerson will firstly listen to the pieces of music, studying the lyrics and talking to the band members. From this point he will figure out were to take the direction the project conceptually. This is the “Brain Soup”. Roughs : Thorgerson will meet the band over a few days and ask them what creative direction do they want the album to go in. Mood boards are created and word play is often used. Streamlined idea’s created in the “Roughs”. Tests : Roughs (streamlined idea’s) analysed and the budget confirmed. A pro-type is created to ensure the idea works. Depending on the type of image this alter the type of prototype which is made. Editing: The best photograph is taken from the selection process. This image is edited to create the final finished product.. Processing the image can be lengthily, time wise . Shoot : In the shooting process a location is researched and booked for a prolonged period especially if its outside as weather is unpredictable. Volunteers and models will attend on this day to ensure the shoot goes well. Photographs are taken in a range filters. Artwork : After the shot has been chosen, post production techniques are used in order finalize the product in relation the idea established generated.
