NHS QUEST – Workforce Development Programme Measures (as of 08/09/2017)

Background The following slides display the most recent NHS Staff Survey data (2016), for the questions that were deemed most relevant to the NHS QUEST workforce development programme. These were developed based upon discussions that took place at the NHS QUEST workforce and site leads event in London on 18/10/16. The data presented represents the current outcome measures. A more comprehensive measurement strategy will be required in the future, including process and balancing measures, when the priorities of the programme are further decided upon.

Notes The following charts provide a visual representation of each NHS QUEST member trust’s position in the 2016 staff survey versus both the national average, and the goal of the top 20% of trusts. NHS trusts categorised under ‘Acute Trusts’, ‘Combined Acute and Community Trusts’ and ‘Acute Specialist Trusts’, ‘Mental Health / Learning Disability Trusts’, ‘Combined Mental Health / Learning Disability Community Trusts’, ‘Community Trusts’, ‘Ambulance Trusts’, NHS trusts categorised under ‘Clinical Commissioning Groups’, ‘Commissioning Support Units’, ‘Social Enterprises’, and ‘Scientific and Technical Organisations were excluded. The national average (mean) and top 20% goal are not static and will change year on year. As of 2016, a trust needed a rank of 48th or greater (out of 239 trusts) to be in the top 20%. The questions are on a 5-point rating (Likert) scale. The percentage provided is the average (mean) proportion of staff responding in the two most positive responses, (usually ‘agree or strongly agree’ and ‘often or always’) across the three component questions of each key finding. For the QUEST aggregate measure, the percentage provided is the average (mean) across the three component key findings.
